HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team battled hard, but fell to No. 40 Washington, 6-1 on Thursday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex.
The Huskies captured the doubles point, by winning the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Washington's No. 2 Kawika Lam and Enzo Sommer held off UH's
Igor Kolaric and
Fabian Woehrl, 6-3 while on the No. 3 court, the Huskies' Amit Batta and Gal Hakak defeated Hawai'i's
Ruben Blattner and
Eric Kenneth, 6-3.
Hawai'i's Kolaric won the Rainbow Warriors only match of the day on the No. 2 court, defeating UW's Jake Douglas in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. UH's No. 1 Albert won the first set, but dropped the second and fell in a third set, 10-point tie-breaker to Sommer, 4-6, 6-1, 10-3. Hawai'i's
Marcel Chan lost a heartbreaker on the No. 4 court to UW's Batta, 7-5. 7-6 (3).
The Rainbow Warriors continue their homestand as they face Fresno State on Friday at 3:00 pm at the UH Tennis Complex.
