HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (1-8, 0-1 Big West) fell to Elon, 6-1 at the UH Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The Rainbow Warriors were close to capturing the doubles points. After falling on court No. 2, UH's No. 3 duo of
Spencer Travalino and
Eric Kenneth fell by just a break at 6-4 to Felipe Sarrasague and Louis Rico. But on the No. 1 court, UH's
Felix Albert and
Marcel Chan were leading Chris Humphreys and Petar Tomic, 6-5 when the Phoenix captured the doubles point.
In singles, Chan swept Louis Rico on the No. 4 court, 6-2, 6-4. Hawai'i's No. 3
Fabian Woehrl won his first set against Tomic, but fell by a break in the second set and then was edged out in a third set tie-breaker after the set was decided, 4-6, 7-5, 10-7. Travalino also fell in three sets to Humphreys on the No. 6 court, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.
Hawai'i continues their busy week with a match against No. 40 Washington on Thursday and Fresno State on Friday. Both matches are slated to start at 3:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
