HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team was edged out by Gonzaga, 4-3 in a marathon match on Tuesday night at the UH Tennis Complex. After a close doubles contest, all six of the singles matches went to three sets. The Rainbow Wahine had their seven-match win streak snapped to drop their record to 8-3 overall, while the Bulldogs remained unbeaten at 7-0.
 
The Rainbow Wahine won the doubles point, but it was the Bulldogs who won the first match of the day with Sophie Whittle and Kat Ketels defeating Michelle Pits and Roxanne Resma on the No. 2 court by a break, 6-4. Hawai'i evened the doubles at 1-1 when No. 3 Marina Hruba and Nikola Dolakova held off Alex Bourguignon and Garciela Rosas, 6-4. UH's No. 1 duo of Cindy Nguyen and Klara Pribylova then captured the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-4) win over Nevada Apollo and Domonique Garley.
 
UH's No. 4 Pits came back to win in three sets to start the singles matches with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Bourguignon. But the Bulldogs then outlasted the 'Bows on courts No. 6, 3, 5, and 1 in a row to secure the win. UH's No.2 Hruba hung on to defeat Whittle, 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 6-3 to end the match.
 
Hawai'i will next take on another Bulldogs team, Fresno State on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
