SEATTLE – The University of Hawai'i track and field squad wrapped up its third regular season mainland trip on Sunday within the confines of the Dempsey Indoor at the UW Indoor Open.

The throws crew shined brightest on Sunday, coming away with four personal bests. Leading the pack, Burlingame, Calif. senior
Sabrina Mendoza significantly surpassed the 14m shot put barrier for the first time, coming in with a 47-09.75 (14.57m) to win the event. Her latest performance also jumps her to fourth on the UH all-time performances list.

Michelle Altice also came in sixth in the shot put for the Rainbow Wahine whit a throw of 45-08.00 (13.92m), while senior
Mary Kamau was 11th at 42-00.00 (12.80m). Kamau also hit a personal best in the weight throw at 48-11.50 (14.92m) to finish 12th, while freshman
Haleigh Sudbeck reached 46-00.75 (14.04m) for 15th.

Extending her indoor run of excellence, Murray, Ky. freshman
Lily Lowe finished second for the second time on the weekend in the high jump. She picked up the silver at 5-07.75 (1.72m).

Castle Rock, Colo. senior
Kendall Horan logged a personal best of her own in the 400m, rising to sixth on the all-time UH list and finishing ninth in the event at Dempsey with a time of 58.49. Brentwood, Tenn. junior
Emily Stack improved her top time in the 600m to 1:42.64, moving up to seventh on the UH list and finishing 17th on Sunday.

Tiziana Ruiz Dominguez and Wailuku, Maui senior
Amber Kozaki both cleared 12-04.75 (3.78m) in the pole vault, but Ruiz' first-attempt pass granted her a tie for sixth, while Kozaki finished 12th in the event.

With the completion of this weekend's twinbill at Dempsey, the Rainbow Wahine are out of competition for 12 days leading up to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championships, back in Seattle on Feb. 24-25.
