SEATTLE – The University of Hawai'i track and field squad opened up its twinbill weekend at Dempsey Indoor with a two-day appearance at the Husky Classic.

Making her first appearance for the Rainbow Wahine, Alamo, Calif. freshman
Erin Herting debuted in the 5,000m on Friday with an 18:20.07 in her first-ever indoor 5k, while also recording the fifth-fastest time for a UH runner in the event. Meanwhile on Friday, Castle Rock, Colo. senior
Kendall Horan jumped four spots up the UH all-time list in the 200m, coming in at 26.12 and moving to sixth in the UH book.

Highlighting the second day of competition, Murray, Ky. rookie
Lily Lowe continued her strong indoor season with another indoor personal best in the high jump, this time reaching 5-10.00 (1.78m) to move into a tie for fourth in the program standings. For the first time in Seattle, she did not earn the gold, but was the top collegiate finisher, only topped by Olympian Elizabeth Patterson, who cleared 5-11.25 (1.81m).

Calli-Ann Abbott has shifted into the UH top 10 after a personal best in the 60m hurdles on Saturday, moving to 10th on a time of 9.11 seconds to finish 18th at UW.

Mary Kamau each hit new personal-best marks, going back-to-back at 35th and 36th with marks of 46-05.50 (14.15m) and 46-02.00 (14.07m), respectively. Kamau improved 3.61 feet (0.93m) over her old mark.

Sabrina Mendoza finished 13th with a toss of 44-11.75 (13.71m), while freshman
Michelle Altice ranked 30th at 41-08.50 (12.71m).

Rounding out the meet, the 4 x 400m relay team, composed of Horan,
Courtney Andre',
Emily Stack and
Tatiana Desender, took over the No. 10 time in the UH performance lists with a time of 3:59.88 to finish in 13th.

The Rainbow Wahine will remain in Seattle, slated to compete at Dempsey Indoor one final time in the indoor regular season, taking on the UW Indoor Open all day on Sunday.
