HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team will look to end a three-game skid on Saturday when the Rainbow Wahine host UC Santa Barbara in the Stan Sheriff Center. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. (HT).
The Rainbow Wahine are 26-14 all-time against the Gauchos, including a 16-4 advantage at home. UCSB, however, won the first meeting between the two teams this season, 74-62 in Santa Barbara on Jan. 21.
Sarah Toeaina led all scorers with 22 points while
Briana Harris added 14 for Hawai'i in the first matchup against the Gauchos, while Drew Edelman scored 19 and Drea Toler had 17 for UCSB. The Gauchos outscored Hawai'i 32-18 in the paint and shot 54 percent from the field to earn the win, snapping Hawai'i's seven-game winning streak in the series.
Hawai'i enters the game at 8-14 overall and 6-4 in the Big West after losses at UC Riverside and CSUN and a loss at home to UCR. Losses to UC Davis and CSUN in the last two games knocked the Gauchos below .500 on the season as UCSB comes to Hawai'i with an 11-12 overall record and 6-4 mark in Big West play.
The Rainbow Wahine are in the midst of a four-game home-stand, and will welcome league-leading UC Davis (Feb. 16) and CSUN (Feb. 18) to the Stan Sheriff Center next week.
