HONOLULU – The Hawai'i women's basketball team will wrap up its seven-game home-stand on Friday night (Dec. 8) at 7:05 p.m. against Idaho State.
The Rainbow Wahine and Bengals are each 5-3 entering Friday's contest, but have taken different paths to get there. Idaho State started the season 5-1, highlighted by a 79-59 road win at No. 25 Washington, but are coming off back-to-back road losses at Washington State and Wyoming. The Bengals average 70.8 points per game and give up just 61.1. Idaho State also dominates the glass, taking a +8.5 rebounding margin into the week.
Idaho State's Brooke Blair ranks fourth in NCAA Division I with a 56.43 3-point field goal percentage after hitting 22-of-39 triples so far this season. She leads the team with 14.1 points per game, while Saylair Grandon adds 11.3 points per game.
While Idaho State has picked up wins by large margins, including three wins by 20 or more points, Hawai'i has been winning down-to-the-wire contests. UH is 3-0 in games decided by seven points or less, including a 64-63 overtime win over San Diego.
Friday's meeting will be the first between Hawai'i and Idaho State since Dec. 21, 1990. UH is 3-0 in the all-time series.
The Rainbow Wahine will take a three-game trip to the mainland to visit Arizona on Dec. 17 and face Texas A&M and Oregon in Las Vegas at the Duel in the Desert Dec. 20 and 22.
