LONG BEACH, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team (11-6, 6-1 Big West) heads to southern California for its second roadtrip of the year as they take on Long Beach State (5-14, 2-4 Big West) on Friday, October 13 followed by CSUN (10-8, 4-2 Big West) on Saturday, Oct. 14. Both matches are slated to start at 4:00 p.m. HT. Friday's match at LBSU will be broadcast on ESPNU and the match at CSUN will air on ESPN3.
The Rainbow Wahine split this past weekend's matches, defeating UC Santa Barbara in a sweep but falling in a reverse sweep to Cal Poly. Against the Gauchos on Friday, UH took care of business, defeating UCSB 25-20, 26-24, 25-11. But the 'Bows are looking to rebound after falling to Cal Poly in a five-set match this past Saturday in a battle of the last unbeaten teams in conference. UH won the first two sets and looked strong, but after the intermission Hawai'i did not keep up the momentum as the Mustangs came charging back to defeat UH, 25-16, 25-22, 15-25, 22-25, 9-15.
Leading the offense this past week was junior outside hitter
McKenna Granato who amassed double-digit kills in both games, posting 18 kills against UCSB and 20 vs. Cal Poly. She now has recorded double-digits in kills in 11 matches this year—including six matches with 20 or more kills. Granato is also second on the team with 18 service aces and third on the squad with 147 digs.
The reigning Big West Defensive Player of the Week,
Emily Maglio, who set and then tied her career-high with 10 blocks in UH's two matches last weekend. Against Cal Poly, she also registered a career-high four solo blocks. The senior middle hitter leads the Big West with 96 total blocks (15 in NCAA) and 1.48 blocks per set (19
th in NCAA). Maglio is second on the team with 192 kills overall averaging 2.95 kills per set. She has 12 double-digit matches this season—including seven of the last eight matches.

Savanah Kahakai continues to anchor the back row as she proceeds to climb up the UH all-time digs record book. She has 13 double-figure dig matches this season—including 11 of the last 12 matches. Kahakai is also second on the team with 55 assists and third on the team with 17 service aces.
