SEATTLE – Making their second appearance at Dempsey Indoor, the University of Hawai'i track and field team came away from the UW Invitational with a new school record, an event winner and numerous program top 10s and personal bests.

The Rainbow Wahine got things started on Friday at Dempsey, led off by freshman
Alexis Brenzil, producing solid results in her first collegiate multi-event competition. The Welland, Ontario rookie delivered new personal bests in the 60m hurdles (9.48), high jump (1.58m 5-02.25) and shot put (12.50m 41-00.25), en route to a program ninth-most 3,138 points and a 17th-place meet finish.

Making a strike into the record books early in her final season, Harbor City, Calif. senior
Montana Martinez took over as the new Hawai'i 5,000m record holder after registering a 16:50.96 mark for 15th place, lopping 12.67 seconds off Chantelle Laan's 2008 performance.

Rounding out the opening day's competition, Wailuku, Maui senior
Amber Kozaki reached a new career high in the pole vault, matching teammate
Tiziana Ruiz Dominguez at 12-06.75 (3.83m) and moving into fourth on the UH all-time performances list. Reaching her mark with no misses, Ruiz Dominguez claimed ninth place, while Kozaki took the 10th.

Returning to action on the Saturday for the second day of competition, Murray, Ky. freshman
Lily Lowe produced another collegiate best in the high jump, hitting 5-08.75 (1.75m) for a second event win in as many attempts, increasing her height by .5m to tie Annett Wichmann for the sixth-highest mark at UH.

Tristen Dulay made her first mark on the UH indoor top 10, knocking her 60m dash time down to 8.05 seconds. In the long sprints, Castle Rock, Colo. senior
Kendall Horan recorded the program's sixth-fastest time at 59.08 (32nd). Meanwhile, freshman
Tatiana Desender reached a new PR in the event at 1:01.69 (47th).

Back in action on Saturday, Martinez collected another improvement, moving up to third on the UH lists with a 4:59.53 (43rd) in the mile, while Silverton, Ore. rookie
Maddie Fuhrman moved into 10th on the UH list at 5:12.33 (67th) in the event. Also in the distance events, sophomore
Tristan Setzer registered a personal best and program 10th-fastest 2:18.16 (45th) in the 800m.

Rounding out the field events, San Diego, Calif. freshman
Michelle Altice logged one of UH's highest finishes of the meet, coming in sixth in the shot put with a personal best and UH fifth-longest mark of 47-02.25 (14.38m). Senior
Sabrina Mendoza wasn't far behind, coming in seventh with a distance of 45-07.00 (13.89m), while
Mary Kamau collected a career-long 40-09.75 (12.44m) for 30th.

Calli-Ann Abbott also recorded a personal-best 9.22 seconds in the 60m hurdles (20th). Making the relay debut for UH this season, the women's distance medley quartet (composed of Horan, Fuhrman, Setzer and
Kai Hoshijo) recorded the new No. 8 UH time at 12:25.06, finishing 15th.

Following suit in the alternating schedule, the Rainbow Wahine return next week to the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex for the second in UH's Sunrise Series; the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Feb. 4.
