HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team pulled away from CSUN for a 6-1 victory on Senior Day at the UH Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon. The Rainbow Wahine improved to 10-9 overall and 4-3 in the Big West while the Matadors fell to 8-11 overall and 2-4 in conference. It was the final home match for three UH seniors—Sarah Gealer, Paulina Petriskova and Arthi Reddy.
 
Hawai'i earned the doubles point to start the match. Gealer and her partner Marina Hruba nearly blanked CSUN's Kiryan Kim and Mari Taslagyan, 6-1 on the No. 3 court. The Matadors' Micky Hsu and Kristen Poei then evened things up with a 6-3 win over Klara Pribylova and Petriskova at No. 1. But, the No. 2 duo of Cindy Nguyen and Roxanne Resma clinched the point with a 6-3 win over Vivian Lin and Sklyla Alcon on the No. 2 court.
 
In singles, Hruba cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Lin. But CSUN's Alcon defeated UH's Pribylova, 6-0, 6-1 to cut UH's lead to 2-1. Hawai'i however then won the last four matches to win 6-1. Gealer won her final home match with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Poei at No. 3 and Resma held off CSUN's Kim winning by a second set tie-breaker, 6-4, 7-6 (6). Petriskova then won her final match on her home court, coming from a set down to defeat Taslagyan, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Nguyen then capped the match also coming from a set down to hold off Hsu on the No. 1 court, 5-7. 6-3, 7-5 for the win.
 
Hawai'i will close the regular season on the road with a match at UC Davis on April 24.
