2016 Big West Men's Tennis Tournament BracketBig West Men's Tennis Tournament Central WebpageINDIAN WELLS, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (1-13, 0-5 Big West) opens the 2016 Big West Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will take on No. 3 seed UC Davis (16-6, 3-2 Big West) in the first round on Thursday, April 27. The tournament will be played at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif.
The young Rainbow Warriors are looking to make some noise at the BWC tourney.
Felix Albert,
Igor Kolaric, and
Fabian Woehrl all lead UH with two wins apiece. Albert has played all of his dual matches on the No. 1 court, notching wins over Sacramento State and UC Riverside. Kolaric won his two matches in straight sets, but in his last five matches, Kolaric playing at No. 2, has been battling hard, but just coming up short falling in three, 3-set matches and losing at UC Santa Barbara and at Cal Poly by a tie breaker and second set scores of 4-6 and 5-7 respectively. Woehrl's two victories came against Minnesota and UC Irvine. He has played all five of his matches on the No. 6 court.
UC Davis most recently snapped its three-match losing streak by holding off UC Irvine, 4-3 on the Aggies' Senior Day at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. Seven of UCD's eight players have recorded double-digit wins this season, led by Bryce McKelvie's 26-8 record. He is a perfect 5-0 on the No. 3 court and 11-4 at No. 4 and 1-0 at No. 6 this season. Alec Adamson is 20-14 overall and 3-2 in the BWC with a 7-8 record at No. 1 and a 4-1 mark at No. 2. In doubles the Aggies are led by the duo of Tommy Lam and McKelvie who are 9-1 in dual matches all at No. 3.
Earlier this season, the Aggies defeated the Rainbow Warriors, 6-1 on Feb. 2 in Davis, Calif.
