Outrigger Resorts Aloha Invitational ScheduleHONOLULU – The No. 5 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball team (11-6) will take on their final weekend of regular-season action on O'ahu, facing a tough field at the Outrigger Resorts Aloha Invitational Friday and Saturday, April 22-23 at Queen's Beach.
Led by reigning Big West Pairs Team of the Week
Katie Spieler and
Emily Maglio, the 'SandBows' are slated to take on Grand Canyon, No. 6 Long Beach State, Louisiana Monroe, No. 1 Southern Cal and Washington in the Outrigger Resorts event hosted by 2000 Olympic gold medalist Dain Blanton and professional beach volleyball legend, 1996 Olympic silver medalist Mike Dodd.
The tournament will feature a bracketed team dual format, concluding in a finals matches on Saturday, televised on tape delay by CBS Sports Network and slated to air in May.
The duals competition will begin Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Queen's Beach and run through 4:15 p.m.
Hawai'i will face the winner of the 10:00 a.m. match between Long Beach State and Washington. The winner of the match will play Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The tournament builds toward the first round of televised finals at 2:30 p.m., second round of televised finals at 3:30 p.m. and an awards ceremony scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The tournament will also feature a pairs pool, but UH is not scheduled to compete.
