HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team will host its final two home matches of the season this week. The Rainbow Warriors will face a couple of Big West opponents in UC Irvine on Thursday, March 24 and UC Riverside on Friday, March 25. First serve for both matches are at 10:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
The young Rainbow Warriors are looking to snap their nine-match losing streak this week. Hawai'i (1-9, 0-1 Big West) is led by three players who have notched three wins each thus far.
Felix Albert is currently 3-9 overall and 1-7 all on the No. 1 court for the 'Bows.
Marcel Chan is 3-12 overall and has played mostly at No. 3 where he has a 1-5 record. Rookie
Igor Kolaric is also 3-12 with two wins coming at No. 4. The Rainbow Warriors do not have any seniors on this year's squad.
UC Irvine is 11-5 overall and has yet to play a Big West match. The 'Eaters have five players who have already recorded double-digits in wins this season. UCI's Sebastian Heim is 11-4 overall and 8-2 in dual matches all on the No. 1 court while Luca Marquard has a team-high 19 singles wins with nine losses. He has been a utility player for the Anteaters, playing on the No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 courts this season.
The UC Riverside Highlanders come to Honolulu with a 10-9 overall record and they too have yet to play a conference match. Kyle McCann leads UCR with 12 singles wins—11 of which has come on the No. 3 court. Anderson Ju is 10-5 overall and has seen success both at No. 5 and No. 6 where he has recorded a combined 10-4 record.
