Box Score LOS ANGELES – A cold shooting performance coupled with 18 turnovers was too much for the Hawai'i women's basketball team to overcome in the 2016-17 season-opener at USC, as the Rainbow Wahine fell to the Trojans 76-44 on Friday.
Hawai'i connected on just 17-of-57 (29.8 percent) shots and 4-of-15 3-pointers. Meanwhile, the Trojans shot 50.0 percent (30-for-60) from the field, including 5-of-11 3-pointers. USC also dominated on the glass with a 44-26 rebounding advantage.
The Trojans capitalized on six UH turnovers in the first quarter as they jumped out to an 11-0 lead and took a 25-12 advantage into the second. Hawai'i made a 7-0 run near the end of the second quarter to pull within 13 at 38-25, but USC pulled away for good with a 12-0 run that extended into the third quarter.

Makenna Woodfolk scored four points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds, and classmate
Taylor Donohue scored two points—connecting on her only shot of the night—and added five rebounds.
USC (1-0) was led by Kristen Simon who notched a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double. Jordan Adams added 11 points and Ja'Tavia Tapley contributed 10.
The Rainbow Wahine will visit CSU Bakersfield at 11:00 a.m. (HT) on Sunday before returning home to host the Bank of Hawai'i Classic Nov. 18-20.
