HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine cross country team closed out the on-island segment of the regular season on Saturday at Sand Island Park, competing in the Chaminade Silverswords Invitational.
Four members of the UH squad competed against local competition, led by sophomore
Giovanna Casazza, who came down the chute in 15th place with a 5k mark of 20:36, cutting within seconds of her career best.
However, freshman
Lisa Tashiro did improve her top time, slicing 1:10 off her personal best to finish 17th in a time of 21:04. Classmate
Caitlyn Krueger was 21st with a time of 21:34 – also a personal best by 47 seconds — while sophomore
Paige Sullivan rounded out the quartet with a 24th-place mark of 22:44.
With only four athletes competing, UH did not appear in the team rankings. Hawai'i Pacific earned the team victory in the meet.
The Rainbow Wahine head back to the mainland once more to complete the regular season, Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara, Calif. Hawai'i will return to action on O'ahu on Oct. 29, serving as host to the 2016 Big West Championships at Kahuku Golf Course.
