LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team continued to compete on Day Two of the the 60th Annual Southern California Intercollegiate Championships hosted by USC at Marks Stadium on Friday.
 
In singles, the three Rainbow Warriors who advanced out of yesterday's qualifying rounds all had tough matches in the main draw's Round of 32 on Friday. Hawai'i's Felix Albert was just edged out after a valiant effort against seventh-seeded Robbie Bellamy of USC. Bellamy took the first set, but Albert evened the match by capturing the second frame. The third set came down to at tie-breaker, with Bellamy coming out on top, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (2).  UH's Ruben Blattner battled against USC's Henry Ji but fell in two sets, 6-4, 6-3 and Marcel Chan dropped his match against sixth-seeded Austin Rapp of UCLA, 6-4, 6-1.
 
In doubles qualifying, three of UH's duos advanced out of the Round of 32. Igor Kolaric and Chan held off UC San Diego's Marius Ruh and Eric Tseng by a break, 8-6. The other two pairs had byes in the first round of action for qualifying.
 
Hawai'I's Spencer Travalino and Fabian Woehrl were the only duo to advance out of the qualifying Round of 16 as they doubled-up on Cal Poly's Rafael Lenhard and Antoine Noel to win, 8-4.
 
Action continues with consolation rounds on Saturday. Travalino and Woehrl will take on USC's third-seeded Thibault Forge and Bellamy at 2:00 pm tomorrow.
