WAIPAHU, O'ahu – Cal State Fullerton spoiled the Hawai'i women's soccer team's Senior Night and bid for an unbeaten home season on Sunday, beating the Rainbow Wahine 3-0 at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The Titans (7-9, 4-2 Big West) took control of the game early with goals in the 13
th and 16
th minutes. It was Kaycee Hoover putting CSU Fullerton on the board first, finishing a cross from Jessica Simonian. Just over three minutes later, Sarah Fajnor doubled the CSU Fullerton lead. Atlanta Primus scored the final goal off an assist from Hoover and Nano Ornonoz for the 3-0 win.
Hawai'i tried to claw its way back into the game, but shots from
Addie Steiner,
Storm Kenui,
Sonest Furtado and
Raisa Strom-Okimoto either sailed just high or safely into the hands of Titan goalkeeper Jennifer Stewart, who finished with six saves for her third solo shutout of the season.
The Titans had a 16-11 advantage in shots, and each team finished with six shots on goal. CSU Fullerton took all five corner kicks in the game.
The loss was Hawai'i's first and only at home this season, finishing with a 7-1-2 home record. The Rainbow Wahine drop to 9-4-2 on the season and 2-3-1 in Big West Play with the loss, and will travel to UC Irvine and CSUN to wrap up the regular season next week.
