WAIPAHU, O'ahu—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team competed on the final day of the 2016 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Aloha Cup at the Central O'ahu Regional Park Tennis Complex in Waipahu, O'ahu.
UH's
Felix Albert and
Igor Kolaric both fell in the semifinals of the singles tournament. Albert, the third seed, was defeated by top-seeded Filip Dolezal in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Seventh seed Kolaric captured the first set by a break but No. 2 Alexander Meyer went on to win the final two sets to advance to the finals.
In doubles, both UH pairs fell in the semifinals on Sunday. No. 1-seed Dolezal and Meyer held off Hawai'i's
Ruben Blattner and Kolaric in a tightly contested match, 6-4, 6-4. Unseeded partners Nikoa Petrov and Yann Renault defeated UH's Albert and
Marcel Chan, who were the No. 2 seeds, 6-2, 6-2.
