Meet ResultsKAHUKU, O 'ahu—Select members of the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine cross country squad competed on Saturday in the second meet of the 2015 season, the Hawai'i Pacific Invitational, held by HPU at the Kahuku Golf Course.
With racers from six different squads populating the 42-woman field, UH did not compete in team scoring, with only four entrants in the women's 5k race. Freshman
Gio Casazza was the first finisher for the Rainbow Wahine, running a time of 20:53.7 to enter the chute in 23rd.
Classmates
Alison Bowman (21:37.8) and
Paige Sullivan (21:47.3) followed in 27th and 29th, respectively, while junior
Emily Stack rounded out the quartet in 36th at 24:00.8.
As for the team competition, Alaska Anchorage again claimed the title in a meet on the Kahuku course, collecting four of the top five finishes for a near-perfect score of 16. Carolina Kurgat captured the individual title with a time of 18:15.9.
Host Hawai'i Pacific topped the local teams, earning second with a total score of 51, followed by BYU-Hawai'i, Hawai'i-Hilo and Chaminade.
Returning to full-team action, the Rainbow Wahine are back on the course next weekend with their first trip to the mainland this season, traveling to Seattle, Wash. for the Sundodger Invitational, hosted by University of Washington. The early-season meet gives UH a chance to prepare for conditions at the NCAA West Regional meet, also held in Seattle.
