RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Despite winter-like conditions, the two University of Hawai'i heptathletes began and ended Day 1 of the Big West Conference Championship with heptathlon personal-bests in the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meters, Friday, at UC Riverside Track Facility.

Felicianna Vazquez completed the first four disciplines with Ah Nee in 11
th place (2,551 points) and Vazquez in 16
th place (2,063 points).

Ah Nee, a freshman from 'Ewa Beach, O'ahu, posted marks of 16.58 seconds in the 100mH, 4-11¾ (1.52m) in the high jump, 29-5¼ (8.97m) in the shot put and 25.97 seconds in the 200m, which she placed first in her section.

Vazquez, a sophomore from Wai'anae, O'ahu, checked in at 16.58s in the 100mH but then no-heighted in the high jump. However, she turned that negative outcome into a positive by throwing the second-best mark in the shot put (34-8½ / 10.58m) and ran a lifetime best in the 200m (26.85s).

CSUN holds the top four spots in the competition led by Olympia Jewett, who tallied 3,049 points. Shawnta Barnes is second (3,028) followed by Marissa Rossi (2,875) and Marie Veale (2,863).

The heptathlon concludes on Saturday with the long jump, javelin, and 800-meter events.
