Porlier Langlois Completes First Of Two Events At NCAA Prelims

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Hawai'i thrower Alex Porlier Langlois completed her first of two events at the NCAA West Preliminary Round, Friday, at the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium.
 
Porlier Langlois fouled on all three of her throws of the discus competition. The St. Cesaire, Quebec native was one of four competitors among a group of 48 throwers who did not post a mark. Texas A&M's Shelbi Vaughan won the event with a throw of 199-11 (60.93m).
 
The junior will be able to redeem herself on Saturday in the shot put competition which she enters the meet ranked No. 22. Porlier Langlois is having her best season yet in the event, having already set school records during the indoor and outdoor season as well as capturing gold at the Big West Championships and bronze at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships.
 
Also competing on Saturday is sophomore Rachel Toliver, who is entered in the triple jump competition. The Los Angeles, Calif., native is ranked No. 17 in the West Region.
 
The top 12 finishers qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
