Results

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i sailing team won the St. Francis Interconference Regatta ousting second-place finisher California Maritime Academy by a staggering 36-point margin.

Despite rough winds on Saturday, the 'Bows persevered to sail for a season-best score of 50 points after the A and B division squads earned scores of 29 and 21, respectively. Out of 27 teams, UH was able to edge out top-squads such as USC, UC Irvine, and regatta host Stanford.

Chuck Eaton, Cuylar Zimmerman and Patrick Manuel landed two first-place and two second-place finishes out of seven races in the A-division while Giacomo Paoletti, Mackenzie Cook and Katrina Berry combined to win two races and took second in three.

"It was a fun weekend," said head sailing coach Andy Johnson. "We haven't won one like this in a long time. So now we're just getting ready for the Pacific Coast Championships."

The coed team heads to the PCC's May 1-3 in Stanford, Calif. Eaton, Zimmerman, Manuel, Paoletti, Cook, Berry, along with teammates Cole Brauer and Jeremy Hitchcock will be competing for the 'Bows at the championships.
