Sunrise Finale Final ResultsHONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team closed out its five-meet all-comer Sunrise Series with the Finale Meet, Saturday, at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.
Â
Among UH's standout performances was distance runner
Montana Martinez and thrower
Alex Porlier Langlois, who both posted seasonal best marks.
Â
Martinez, a freshman from Harbor City, Calif., sprinted the 1500-meters in under a Big West Conference Championship qualifying time, however, her mark of 4:44.69 does not count toward official times because UH was the only Division I school entered in the meet. Already this season, Martinez has qualifying standards in the 3000-meter steeplechase, 5000-meters, and 10,000-meters.
Â
Porlier Langlois continues her record-breaking season by throwing a seasonal-best 167-2 (50.96m) in the discus to win the event. Her goal this season is to reach 53 meters, which will qualify her for the World Student Games to be held later this summer in Korea. Heading into the Big West Championships, Porlier Langlois holds the conference's No. 1 ranking in the shot put and No. 3 in the discus.
Â
The Rainbow Wahine will next travel to Irvine, Calif., for the Steve Scott Invitational, May 1-2.
