CSULA Twilight Open Final ResultsAZUSA, Calif. – Competing in her first-ever heptathlon, University of Hawai'i sophomore
Felicianna Vazquez placed 38
th at the California Heptathlon, following Thursday's second day of competition at Azusa Pacific's Cougar Stadium.
Vazquez totaled 4,038 points in the seven disciplines after completing the day's three events – long jump, javelin, and 800-meters. Freshman
Sha'tres Ah Nee also competed in her first heptathlon and placed 41
st with 3,796 points.
Vazquez, a Wai'anae, O'ahu native and Radford High School graduate, had the fourth-best javelin throw of the day among the 53 competitors with a heave of 123-10 (37.74m). She also jumped 17-3½ (5.27m) in the long jump and posted a time of 3:03.19 in the 800-meters. Ah Nee, a Campbell graduate and 'Ewa Beach, O'ahu native, posted marks of 15-11 (4.85m) in the long jump, 74-11 (22.84m) in the javelin, and 2:58.97 in the 800-meters.
The rest of the Rainbow Wahine competed at the CSULA Twilight Meet in Los Angeles, while freshman
Montana Martinez competed in the 10,000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Martinez completed her first-ever 10,000-meters in 36:46.71, which places her No. 4 all-time in school history.
At the CSULA meet, junior
Charlinda Ioane placed second in the shot put with a heave of 46-7½ (14.21m). Meanwhile
Sabrina Mendoza's fifth place throw was a huge personal best by 14 inches of 45-1½ (13.75m) and is a new Big West qualifying mark. In the discus,
Alex Porlier Langlois placed third with a seasonal-best of 166-2 (50.66m) while Ioane was fifth with a throw of 158-10 (48.82m)
In the javelin,
Destiny Dawson placed fourth with a PR of 127-4 (38.82m) while
Jacqueline Donovan took seventh with a personal best of 118-10 (36.23m).
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays, Friday.
