HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis was defeated by No. 11 Michigan on Friday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. The Wolverines defeated the Rainbow Wahine, 6-1 with UH's
Cindy Nguyen coming away with the team's lone victory.
Michigan captured the doubles point, to start the match. Michigan's, No. 3 pair of Victoria Mira Ruder-Hook and Kristen Dodge defeated UH's
Viktoria Malova and
Rebecca Faltusz 8-2. The Wolverines' No. 2 duo of Sarah Lee and Ronit Yurovsky defeated Hawai'i's
Sarah Gealer and Martina Kostalova, 8-3. UH's
Cindy Nguyen and Klara Pribylova was down against No. 14 duo of Emina Bektas and Alex Najarian, 6-4 but did not finish their match.
The Wolverines then rolled in the singles match capturing five of six matches in straight sets. Hawai'i's Nguyen was able to capture UH's only win on the day, defeating No. 21 Ronit Yurovsky in a nail-bitting three setter, 7-6, 4-6, 10-6.
The `Bows will continue their 6-match homestand playing against SMU on Wednesday, Mar. 11. Matches will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
