The Rainbow Wahine took the early lead when they won the doubles point for just the second time this season. UH's No. 2 duo of Cindy Nguyen and Rebecca Faltusz won their match against Luisa Ortiz Candido and Melissa Baker, 8-2. UCSB bounced back to win to even the doubles at 1-1 when UH's Sarah Gealer and Viktoria Malova fell to Stacy Yam and Jamiee Gilbertson, 8-1 on the No. 3 court. The `Bows' Paulina Petriskova and Martina Kostalova clinched the doubles point when the duo cruised past UCSB's Natalie De Silveira and April Scatliffe, 8-3 to give UH the early 1-0 lead. The doubles win for UH snapped a string of 10 straight matches that the 'Bows have lost the doubles point in a match. 

In singles action, UCSB started out strong when UH's Malova fell to Natalie De Silveira, 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 2 position to quickly tie the score up 1-1. Hawai`i's No. 1 Nguyen was the only player to win in singles, beating the Gauchos' Jaimee Gilberton, 6-2, 6-2. For Nguyen, it was her fourth straight victory and her 10th win in her last 11 matches. In the No. 3 position, UH's No. 3 Kostalova came up short against UCSB's Melissa Baker, 6-2, 6-2, while Rebecca Faltusz fell to UCSB's Luisa Ortiz Candido, 7-5, 6-0 on the No. 6 court. In the No. 5 position, UH's Gealer started off well, winning the first set 6-1, but UCSB's Stacy Yam swung the momentum by winning the second and third set, 6-4, 6-3 to clinch the match for the Gauchos. UH's Petriskova tied against UCSB's April Scatliffe in the third set, but the match went unfinished. 

The `Bows will now travel to Las Vegas, Nev. to play against UNLV on Saturday, March 28. Matches will begin at 10:00 a.m. (PT)
