The Fighting Illini took the doubles point as they won two out of the three doubles matches. UH's No. 2 duo of Cindy Nguyen and Rebecca Faltusz fell to Illinois' Madie Baillon and Jerricka Boone, 6-1, while the `Bows' No. 3 pair of Sarah Gealer and Viktoria Malova gave a valiant effort against Illinois' Alexis Casati and Grace Tapak, but fell short, 6-2. Hawai`i's No. 1 duo of Martina Kostalova and Paulina Petriskova was down 2-5 in their doubles match, but the match went unfinished after Illinois clinched the doubles point.

The `Bows bounced back however in singles, winning the first four singles matches out of the chute to clinch the match. UH's Petriskova gave the Rainbow Wahine's first point of the day, defeating Illinois' Tapak in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Faltusz followed and gave UH a 2-1 lead after cruising past Julia Jamieson, 6-4, 6-2. UH's Malova gave a 3-1 lead for the `Bows when she defeated Melissa Kopinski in a three-set battle, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4. No. 1 Nguyen was the hero of the day clinching the match for the `Bows, defeating Illinois' Casati in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

The `Bows will next play Big West opponent, No. 68 Santa Barbara on Thursday, March 26 at the UCSB Tennis Courts. Matches will begin at 1:00 p.m. (PT).
