HONOLULU -- The No. 64 University of Hawai'i women's tennis team fell to SMU, 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex.
 
The Mustangs captured the doubles point when UH's No 1 duo of Klara Pribylova and Cindy Nguyen fell in a tight set to SMU's Dasha Sharapova and Vaszilisza Bulgakova, 7-5 while the Mustangs Holly Verner and Hristina Dishkova beat UH's Martina Kostalova and Rebecca Faltusz, 6-4 to give SMU the doubles point.
 
In singles, UH battled, but came up just short. Hawai`i's Viktoria Malova earned UH's only point of the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win over SMU's Anna Kate Anderson. But UH was close in three of the other matches. Dishkova won the first set over Nguyen, 6-1, but Nguyen battled back in the second set to win it 6-4. Both players fought hard in the third and deciding set, but it was Dishkova came up with the win, winning it 7-6 (2). Kostalova and Pribylova also went to three sets, but unfortunately both lost in the third set. Kostalova won the first set 6-3, but SMU's Dasha Sharapova came out battling to win the second and third set, 6-2, 6-2. Pribylova also won the first set 6-2, but the Mustangs Holly Verner came back to win the second and third set by a score of 6-3, 7-5.
 
Hawai`i will next play their final home match against Cal State Fullerton on March 14. It will be Senior Day for two, four-year letter winners, Rebecca Faltusz and Martina Kostalova.
