Track & Field To Open Outdoor Season With Leah Bennett Invite

Sunrise Series Meet Information
 
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team will host the Leah Bennett Invitational, Saturday, March 18 at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex. The meet is the fourth in the five-event all-comer Sunrise Series that the Rainbow Wahine will host during the indoor and outdoor seasons in preparation for mainland competition.
 
The meet begins at 8:00 a.m. with the field events while track events begin at 8:30 a.m.
 
The meet is named after the former Rainbow Wahine, who set the world record in the indoor 880-yard run in 1962 with a time of 2:17.5. She was a three-time All-American and also the U.S. Champion in the indoor and outdoor 880-yard run also in 1962.
 
All track events, horizontal jumps, vertical jumps, shot put and weight throw will be held at the Ching Athletics Complex. Long throws (Hammer, Discus and Javelin) will be held on the lower grass practice field located diamond head/mauka of the track facility.
 
The final Sunrise Series meet is the Sunrise Meet Finale (April 25).
