HONOLULU -- The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team will travel to California to battle San Diego on Thursday, February 12th at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center and Big West opponent, Long Beach State in a conference match on Saturday, February 14th at the Rhodes Tennis Center in Long Beach, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine are coming off with their first conference win by sweeping Big West opponent UC Riverside, 7-0 this past Saturday at the UH Tennis Complex. UH came out strong in doubles winning all three doubles matches easily. In singles, the `Bows would continue to dominate in singles with Junior
Sarah Gealer outplaying her opponent, Karla Dulay 6-2, 6-1. Freshman
Klara Pribylova made her collegiate debut in the line-up with a straight-set win against UC Riverside's Kassie Truong, 6-0, 6-2.
San Diego recently played in their first dual match of the season beating Cal State Fullerton 6-1. Junior Marta Stojanovic cruised past Cal State Fullerton's Camille De Leon 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot respectively, while Junior Dana Oppinger clinched the match for the Toreros winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3 against Titan's Emilia Burkowski. The two teams met last season in San Diego where the Toreros edged UH, 4-3.
Long Beach State is currently ranked 40
th in the nation and are 3-0 in the 2015 season. Niner's Laura Eales, Julie Gerard, and Karolina Rozenberg all lead in singles with 3 wins. Long Beach doubles duo of Laura Eales/Karolina Rozenberg and Julie Gerard/Maeva Razakasoa leads the team in doubles, having a perfect 3-0 record. The two teams met last season in Hawai`i where Long Beach defeated UH, 5-2.
