No. 56 Women's Tennis Sweeps UC Riverside, 7-0

HONOLULU -- The No. 56 University of Hawai'i women's tennis team opened Big West play with a dominating effort as they swept UC Riverside 7-0, at the UH Tennis Complex on Saturday morning.

UH captured the doubles point 3-0. The 'Bows No. 2 duo of Rebecca Faltusz and Sarah Gealer overpowered the Highlander's Karla Dulay and Kassie Truong, 6-0, to give UH the early lead. Then UH duo of Klara Pribylova and Viktoria Malova cruised passed UCR's Tamila Vaksman and Natalie Penner, 6-2 to capture the doubles point. Martina Kostalova and Paulina Petriskova also defeated UC Riverside's Courtney Pattugalen and Chloe Pham 6-1, in the No. 1 position.

The 'Bows would continue to roll in singles play as they would win all of their matches to earn the sweep. On the No. 3 court the 'Bows' Sarah Gealer outplayed her Highlander opponent Dulay, 6-2, 6-1. In the No. 6 spot, the 'Bows' Klara Pribylova defeated the Highlander's Truong, 6-0, 6-2. UH's No. 5 Faltusz took UCR's Vaksman in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. On the No. 4 court, UH's Petriskova beat UCR's Penner, 6-2, 6-1 . In the No. 1 spot the 'Bows' Malova defeated the Highlander's Pham, 6-1, 6-0. UH's No. 2 Kostalova controlled her match against UCR's Pattugalen, winning it 6-3, 6-1, completing the sweep for the 'Bows.

The Rainbow Wahine will now travel to California to play against San Diego on February 12 at 1:30 p.m. (PT).
