Live ScoringSEATTLE, Wash. – University of Hawai'i sophomore
Rachel Toliver set a new school record in the 200-meters, Friday, on the first day of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track and Field Championships at Demsey Indoor.
The Los Angeles, Calif., native clocked in at 24.98 seconds, breaking her own record of 25.19 seconds, which she set at the Husky Classic two weeks ago also at Dempsey. In addition to the 200m, Toliver competed in the 60m and set a new PR time of 7.92 seconds, third fastest in school history.
Senior
Zhane Santiago qualified for the 60-meter hurdles finals after a prelim time of 8.57 seconds. She is one of eight finalists who will vie for the 60mH title on Saturday. The Hau'ula, O'ahu native also competed in the long jump and tied for 23
rd with a mark of 17-5.5 (5.32m).
In the pole vault competition, sophomore
Amber Kozaki matched her personal–best with a clearance of 12-6.25 (3.82m) to tie for eighth place. Teammate
Tiziana Ruiz Dominguez also cleared the same mark however placed 15
th based on attempts. Senior
Robyn Morioka and freshman
Natasha Black each cleared 11-6.5 (3.52m) to tie for 20
th.
Junior
Alex Porlier Langlois was UH's top finisher in the weight throw competition with a huge personal-best throw of 51-11 (15.82m). The St. Cesaire, Quebec native finished in 19
th place and eclipsed her previous best of 50-10 (15.49m) set two weeks at the Husky Classic. Junior
Charlinda Ioane and senior
Jacqueline Donovan, placed 27
th and 29
th, respectively, with marks of 47-8 (14.53m) and 46-10.25 (14.28m).
Freshman Sha'Tres Ah Nee competed in her first pentathlon and placed 15
th with 2,830 points. Freshman
Montana Martinez did not post a time in the 5000-meters after rules officials inadvertently miscounted her number of laps, resulting in a disqualification. Sophomore
Felicianna Vazquez PR'd in the 60mH (9.27s) and placed 35
th in the long jump (16-5/5.00m).
The meet concludes on Saturday.
