HONOLULU -- The No. 53 Rainbow Wahine tennis team fell to Big West opponent, UC Irvine in a nail-biting 4-3 loss on Saturday at the UH Tennis Complex.

In doubles action, the UH pair of Rebecca Faltusz and Viktoria Malova cruised past UCI's Vivien Dvali and Mazy Watrous, 8-3. In the No. 1 doubles, Martina Kostalova and Paulina Petriskova put up a fight against UCI's Ali Facey and Kat Facey, but could not come up with the win, falling 8-6. It all came down to the No. 2 doubles of Cindy Nguyen and Klara Pribylova. They gave a valiant fight, but could not pull off the win in the tiebreaker, falling 8-7 (3) against Sarah Gong and Arisha Ladhani to give the Anteaters the doubles point. 

Singles play began with UH behind 1-0. UCI's Vivien Dvali took the first singles match against Petriskova on the No. 6 court, 6-1, 6-2, while UCI's Kat Facey defeated Kostalova 6-1, 6-1. On the No. 4 court, Gealer fell to Ali Facey, 6-1, 7-6 (8), guaranteeing the Anteaters victory. 

However, UH kept fighting. No. 2 Malova gave UH's first point beating Arisha Ladhani, 6-4, 6-4, while No. 5 Faltusz defeated UCI's Mazy Watrous in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5. The last match of the day came down to Nguyen who beat Anteaters' Sarah Gong, 7-5, 6-3 on the No. 1 court.

The 'Bows will now host Grand Canyon on Feb. 26 at the UH Tennis Complex. The match will start at 3:00 p.m.
