Game Storylines: SDSU's nine-game advantage in the series built off a nine-year win streak in the 1990s...UH holds a 37-27-1 all-time record in Homecoming games since 1949. The most recent HC contest was a 26-18 loss to Nevada on Oct. 25 last season…The Rainbow Warriors have lost their last three Homecoming games, after winning 10 straight from 2002-11…This will mark the fifth time that San Diego State has been the Homecoming opponent at Aloha Stadium—the Aztecs have won all four HC meetings…The Rainbow Warriors need to win 5-of-8 remaining games to reach bowl eligibility and avoid a fifth straight losing season…'Bows are looking to get back to .500 at 3-3, reaching that mark for the first time since 2011, also seeking the seventh time in the past 20 seasons…How will the Rainbow Warriors bounce back from consecutive shutouts for the first time since 1998…The last time that UH was shut out three times in a season was 1966…All three shutouts this season came at the hands of not only top-25 teams, but nationally-elite defenses…The younger brother of junior running back Steven Lakalaka is a freshman linebacker at SDSU—Ronley Lakalaka has seen action the past two games for the Aztecs.

Series in Brief: The San Diego State series is in its 30th meeting, and dates back to 1939. Throughout the history, the series has been consumed by minor streaks, however, during the dominant period for San Diego State, the Aztecs reeled of nine straight wins from 1990-98, breaking away from the Western Athletic Conference following that season to join the newly-fomed Mountain west in 1999.

From 1939-1989 UH held a 9-6 lead in the series and met the Aztecs twice as non-conference foes, winning both contests in Honolulu in 2002 (UH. 41-40) and 2005 (UH, 49-38).

When the rivalry was renewed during UH's first season in the Mountain West in 2012, SDSU went big in San Diego, winning 52-14. However, the subsequent two meetings have been a tight race. Although both SDSU wins, the last two games have been decided by a mere 17 points and an overtime, with a 28-21 OT finish in 2013 and a 20-10 final last season.

The Aztecs are on a three-game series win streak, holding an 18-9-2 lead overall.

Add in a Little Sibling Rivalry
The younger brother of junior running back Steven Lakalaka is a current member of the Aztecs roster. Ronley Lakalaka is in his freshman season and wears No. 39 as a linebacker for SDSU. Ronley has played for the past two games and we could see an on-field sibling meet-up.

UH in Homecoming Games
UH boasts a 37-27-1 all-time record in Homecoming games since 1949. The Rainbow Warriors have lost their last three Homecoming games, after winning 10 straight from 2002-11. The most recent HC contest was a 26-18 loss to Nevada on Oct. 25 last season.

UH's longest Homecoming win streak is 11 straight from 1967-77. The only tie occurred in 1952 against Willamette (7-7).

This will mark the fifth time that San Diego State has been the UH Homecoming opponent (previously 1982, '87, '91, '95), and the Aztecs have won all 4 HC meetings. Of those appearances, three were under coach Bob Wagner and one under Dick Tomey..

'Bows Look to Move Back to Middle
The Rainbow Warriors open with a 2-3 record for the first time under Norm Chow, last holding that mark after five games in 2009, when UH finished the season 6-7 under Greg McMackin. UH has opened 2-3 three times since 2005.

Looking to get back to .500 again at 3-3 has been an elusive task for the UH program. With a close game projected, the 'Bows are looking to register a 3-3 mark for the seventh time in the past 20 seasons, and only the third time since 2005, most recently in 2011.
