Box Score (html)DAVIS, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team gave up two goals in each half and remained winless on the road with a 4-0 loss to UC Davis on Thursday at Aggie Soccer Field. The 'Bows fall to 3-12-1 and 0-6 in the Big West Conference while the Aggies improve to 9-6-2 and 2-3-1 in league play.
Erica Young started her fourth match of the season in goal but had a tough go of it in a full 90 minutes of action. She dealt with 13 shots, eight on target, while making four saves.
The Aggies scored a pair of goals in each half with their first coming just 18 seconds into the match, breaking an 18-year-old record for the quickest goal scored by a UH opponent. A giveaway by the 'Bows seconds after they kicked off led to a counter attack goal by Haley Hughes and UC Davis was up a goal in the blink of an eye.
The Aggies tacked on another less than 15 minutes later. Ashley Kawasaki finished a lofted service from Lindsay Johansen for a 2-0 lead, but UH stemmed the tide and went into the locker room with just the two-goal deficit.
The match was all but decided early in the second half when
Paige Okazaki was issued her second yellow card in the 48
th minute on a shoulder charge just outside the penalty area. UC Davis quickly capitalized on the man advantage as Sydney Burger scored to put her team up 3-0.
UH closes its road schedule on Sunday, Oct. 25 against Long Beach State. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. PT (3:00 p.m. HT).
