Photo GalleryWAHIAWA, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team moved up one spot to fourth place following Round 2 of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Wednesday at a picture-perfect day at the Leilehua Golf Course.
The Rainbow Wahine shot 296 and currently sits in fourth place at 596, 12 strokes behind Round 2 leader No. 34 Brigham Young, who fired 289 for a 584 total. Round 1 leader Mississippi and New Mexico State are tied for second at 592.
UH junior
Eimi Koga rebounded from a first round 78 with the day's best round of 4-under 68 and is tied for sixth at 2-over 146. Koga posted five birdies and one bogey on her season-low round, and one stroke off her career-best of 67.
Junior
Raquel Ek leads the Rainbow Wahine at even par 144 following a second round 73 and tied for fourth place, three strokes behind Brigham Young's Rose Huang (69) and Brooklyn Hocker (73), who are each 3-under 141 and share the tournament lead. Junior
Izzy Leung is tied for ninth at 3-over 147 after posting a second round 76.
Also competing for Hawai'i in the team portion are senior
Nichole Cruz (79, t-59
th), and junior
Daezsa Tomas (81, t-72
nd). Three others are competing as individuals including freshmen
Kaci Masuda and junior
Kelli-Anne Katsuda, who each shot 2-over 74 on Wednesday. Masuda (153) is tied for 32
nd while Katsuda (160) is tied for 62
nd. Sophomore
Lauren Kirkwood is tied for 78
th after a second round 81.
The tournament concludes on Thursday with the third and final round beginning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
