ResultsHONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team finished in second place at the Peter Wenner Rainbow Invitational Saturday afternoon in the waters of Ke'ehi Lagoon.
The regatta, in honor of former Rainbow sailor Peter Wenner, featured teams from Salve Regina, USC, CSU Channel Islands, UC Santa Barbara, Hosei, CS Long Beach, California, and British Columbia.
Races ran all day during the weekend, with beautiful weather gracing the teams with a nice sea breeze in the late morning. Salve Regina University won the invitational title, finishing with 57 points in A division and 40 points in B division to combine for 97 total.
The Rainbow coed team finished overall with 109, sailing for 52 and 57 in A and B, respectively. USC followed in third place with 74 points in A division, and 76 points in B division to combine for a total of 150.
UH's Rainbow Green squad landed in seventh, sailing for 74-points and 107 in A and B, respectively to combine for a total of 181 while the Rainbow Wahine squad finished 11th.
Following the regatta, the Wenner family hosted a barbeque, bringing together the many hungry sailors from all eleven different squads.
