ResultsHONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's and women's swimming team hosted nationally ranked Minnesota last week for its only home event at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex. The Gopher men and women defeated the Rainbow Warriors 140-110, and the Rainbow Wahine 139-108.
The Warriors were led by
Paulo de Paula, who won the 100 breast with a time of 57:46 and
Karl-Richard Hennebach, who won the 100 fly with a time of 49.04. On the women's side, senior
Jasmine Alkhaldi won the 50 free (23.46) and took third in the 100 free (51.23).
Other top finishers for the 'Bows included
Victor Goicoechea, who took second in the 1000 free (9:30.14), and
Yuri Samouilich, who took second in the 100 free (45.64) and 200 free (1:40.43).
Antoinette Ranit finished second in the 100 back (1:00.44) for the Rainbow Wahine, with
Madi Uekawa finishing second in the 100 breast (1:06.54).
UH will return to action in a month for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, held Feb. 18-21 in Monterey Park, Calif.
