KANE'OHE, O'ahu –Missing three of its top runners, the University of Hawai'i women's cross country team finished in fourth place at its own Big Wave Invitational, Saturday morning at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course on Marines Corps Base Hawai'i.
 
The Rainbow Wahine scored 95 total points in the five-team women's 5K race comprised of Alaska-Anchorage, Brigham Young-Hawai'i, UH-Hilo, and Chaminade. UAA captured the team title with 21 points as five of its scoring runners placed in the Top 10.
 
BYUH finished second with 46 points followed by UH-Hilo (88), UH (95), and Chaminade (148).
 
UAA also captured the three-team men's race with a perfect score of 15 points followed by BYUH (50) and Chaminade (83).
 
UAA's Beatrice Decker won the women's race with a time of 19:18.40 while UAA's Henry Cheseto won the 5K men's race in 15:49.90.
 
UH's top finisher was North Dakota State transfer Montana Martinez, who placed 19th overall, checking in at 21:09.30. Right behind her was a pack of Rainbow Wahine led by senior Hayley Musashi (21:29.30/22nd) followed by senior Louise Mulvey (21:42.50/24th), and senior Melissa Chadwick (22:03.70).
 
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were junior Robyn Brown (24:05.00), senior Heather Delgado (24:52.30), junior Erin Carvalho (25:03.10), and sophomore Emily Stack (25:19.50).
 
The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in the UC Riverside Invitational, Sept. 13.
