Porlier Langlois Places 36th In Shot Put At NCAA Prelims

Final Shot Put Results  |  Complete Day 1 Results

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Hawai'i track and field athlete Alex Porlier Langlois finished 36th in the shot put competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Round Thursday at Arkansas' John McDonnell Field.

The junior from St-Cesaire, Quebec, Canada fouled on her first two attempts before recording a throw of 48-3.5 (14.72m) on her final attempt.  Heading into the competition, Porlier Langlois ranked No. 35 in the West Region in the event and was coming off a silver medal finish at the Big West Conference Championships two weeks ago.

Iowa State's Christina Hillman won the competition with a throw of 57-0 (17.37m).

In warm-ups, Porlier Langlois hurled two throws of over 16 meters which would have easily surpassed her previous best of 50-0.5 (15.25m) that she set earlier this season at the Mt. SAC Relays and would have placed her in the Top 12 who advance to the NCAA Championships.

Porlier Langlois will next compete in the discus event on Friday which begins at 3:00 p.m. CT (10:00 a.m. HT). She is currently ranked No. 40 in the West Region in the event and has a personal best mark of 168-7 (51.39m) which she set earlier this year at the CSULA Twilight Open.
