DAVIS, Calif. – University of Hawai'i junior Alex Porlier Langlois captured the silver medal in the shot put at the Big West Conference Championships Saturday at UC Davis' Toomey Field & Woody Wilson Track.

Porlier Langlois' silver was the team's lone medal during the two-day individual competition and UH's second total medal at this year's championships along with Kaleigh Morrison's gold in last week's heptathlon.

As a team, the Rainbow Wahine placed ninth with 45.83 points. Host UC Davis captured the title with 194 total points, edging out Cal State Northridge who finished with 183.33 points. UC Irvine took third (83) followed by Long Beach State (73.5), UC Santa Barbara (73), Cal Poly (69.33), UC Riverside (49), Cal State Fullerton (49), and UH.

Morrison concluded her career with an outstanding performance at the conference championship. In four events, the Tigard, Ore., native totaled 20.5 team points and scored in each discipline with one gold medal, two fifth place finishes and a sixth.

On Saturday, Morrison tied for fifth in the high jump with a mark of 5-5.25 (1.66m) along with LBSU's Aundrea Yancy.

One day after disappointing showing in the discus in which she entered the meet ranked second and faulted on all three throws, Porlier Langois redeemed herself in Saturday's shot put competition. The St. Cesaire, Quebec native heaved 48-9 (14.86m) to win silver, her second medal in as many years at the Big West meet. Porlier Langlois, who entered the meet with the third-best mark in the conference this season, won bronze a year ago.

In the triple jump, freshman Rachel Toliver recorded a personal best mark of 39-5.75 (12.03m) to place sixth. Aside from the 4x100 relay, which UH finished seventh, the Rainbow Wahine had only two athletes competing in track finals on Saturday. Junior Zhane Santiago placed sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best 14.01 seconds while senior Kevyn Murphy placed 10th in the 1500-meters (4:41.33). Santiago was initally DQ'd for a trail leg violation however the ruling was overturned following the conclusion of the meet.

Next up for the Rainbow Wahine is the NCAA West Preliminary Round, which Porlier Langlois will compete in both the discus and shot put. Other UH athletes will await word following the NCAA selection on Thursday.
