AZUSA, Calif. – University of Hawai'i senior
Kaleigh Morrison is in sixth place following a big first day at the California Heptathlon competition Wednesday at the Azusa Pacific's Cougar Stadium.
Morrison posted personal bests in the high jump (5-7.75/1.72m) and 200-meters (26.35s) while also totaling a PR first day score of 3,075 points. Her high jump was tops in her flight and tied for fourth best overall among the 54 competitors. The Lodi, Calif., native also placed 11
th in the 100-meter hurdles (14.78s) and 14
th in the shot put (34-4/10.44m).
Also competing in the competition is sophomore
Kayla Kirk, who is in 48
th place with 2,025 points. The Honolulu native is competing in her first ever heptathlon.
The meet concludes on Thursday with the final three disciplines. The majority of the Rainbow Wahine track and field team will compete in the Cal State Los Angeles' Twilight Meet.
