Round 1 ResultsKAHUKU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team leads the Aloha @ O'ahu Tournament following the first round, Thursday, at the Turtle Bay Resort's Arnold Palmer Course.
The Rainbow Warriors lead the 36-hole, six-team event by 15 strokes over BYU-Hawai'i. UH shot a season-best 282 (6-under) and three Warriors are atop the individual leaderboard, led by junior
Ryan Kuroiwa's 5-under 67.
Kuroiwa's 67 was a career-low round for the 'Aiea, O'ahu native and the second-best round of the season for a Rainbow Warrior this season.
Division III's Whitman College is the official host of the tournament which also includes three of state's Division II teams – BYUH, Hawai'i Pacific, and Chaminade, and Division III's Pacific (Ore.) University.
UH senior
Nainoa Calip shot 2-under 71 and is three strokes behind Kuroiwa entering Friday's final round. Senior
David Saka fired 71 and is tied for third. Also competing for UH is junior
Brian Lee (74) and
Tommy Yamashita (78) while junior
Justin Chu is competing as an individual and shot 77.
Friday's final round begins at 12:00 p.m.
