SAN LOIS OBISPO, Calif. — The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (9-7, 4-1 Big West) won their seventh straight match with a 4-0 sweep at Cal Poly (3-8, 0-4 Big West)  on a rain-filled Wednesday afternoon at the Mustang Tennis Complex.

UH would take the early lead by winning the doubles point. On the No. 3 court the duo of Sarah Gealer and Martina Kostalova cruised past CP's Bryn Bacharach and Emily Gibbens, 8-1. The 'Bows' No. 1 tandem of Xenia Suworowa and Paulina Petriskova won their match against the Mustang's Ana McPike and Jennifer Cornea, 8-4 to capture the first point of the match. 

Rainy weather would lead to several delays during singles play over the span of a few hours. When play resumed the 'Bows' won the first three matches for the sweep. Hawai'i's No. 6 Rebecca Faltusz was dominant, nearly blanking McPike, 6-0, 6-1. UH's No. 3 Kostalova controlled her match against Mika Padmanabhan, also winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. The final four singles matches, however, were all tighlty contested and into the third set. No. 1 Nguyen though clinched the UH win with a three-set victory over the Mustang's Cornea. Nguyen won the first set, 6-3 but dropped the second set, 1-6. Then in a dramatic third set, Nguyen edged out Cornea for a 7-6 win. 

The Rainbow Wahine will next play defending Big West Champion UC Irvine on Saturday, March 29th. The Anteaters are on a seven match winning streak as well and are undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 record. The match will start at 11:00 a.m. PT at the UC Irvine Tennis Stadium.
