SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (8-7, 3-1 Big West) extended their winning streak to six matches as they edged out Big West opponent UC Santa Barbara (4-13, 2-2 Big West) 4-3, at the UCSB Tennis Courts on Monday afternoon.

The Gauchos took the early lead as they won all three of their doubles matches. On the No. 1 court UCSB's April Scatliffe and Stacy Yam beat UH's Xenia Suworowa and Paulina Petriskova, 8-4. The Gaucho's No. 2 pair of Kiersten Meehan and Luisa Ortiz Candido controlled the match against the 'Bows' Cindy Nguyen and Rebecca Faltusz, 8-2. UCSB's Priscila Garcia and Jaimee Gilbertson won their match against UH's Sarah Gealer and Kelsey Daguio, 8-3, on the No. 3 court to complete the doubles sweep.

The 'Bows would strike back in singles, winning four of the six matches to earn the victory. No. 1 Nguyen knocked off UCSB's Boyer in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. It marked Nguyen's sixth-straight No. 1 singles win and she has won nine out of her last 10 singles matches. The 'Bows Martina Kostalova beat Gilbertson in a close match, 6-4, 6-4 while UH's Gealer cruised past Yam in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. Hawai'i's Petriskova captured the match for the Rainbow Wahine with a three-set win over Meehan. Petriskova won the first set, 6-3 but fell in the second 2-6. But she bounced right back to take the third set, 6-2 for the team win.

The 'Bows will next play on March 26 against Big West opponent Cal Poly. The match will start at 12:00 p.m. PT and will be at the Mustang Courts.
