SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team concluded its two-week road trip with yet another close defeat, this time to the hands of Big West leader Cal Poly, 62-60, Saturday afternoon at Mott Athletics Center.

The Rainbow Wahine (11-10, 5-4 Big West) dropped three of the four road games by three points or less and their lone win, against UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, was by a near-identical score (63-60) as Saturday's contest.

Hawai'i returns home to host UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton this week.

The Rainbow Wahine slowly cut an 11-point deficit – with over eight minutes to play – to one following Kamilah Jackson's lay-up with 47 seconds left. Trailing 58-57, UH needed a stop and got it after Kristen Ale's missed jumper but the Mustangs retained possession.

Ariana Elegado, who finished with a game-high 25 points, knocked down a jumper with 18 seconds left giving Cal Poly (14-8, 8-1) a three-point cushion. On UH's ensuing possession, Pua Kailiawa's three-point attempt was off the mark and Elegado rebounded and converted a pair of free throws with four seconds left to seal the victory.

Jackson and Shawna-Lei Kuehu each led the Rainbow Wahine with 14 points. Jackson added nine rebounds and four assists, while Kuehu did most of her damage in the first half with 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Destiny King added 11 points and nine rebounds, just missing her second double-double in four games.

As a team, the Rainbow Wahine shot 37.7 percent from the field and struggled from beyond the arc, converting 1-of-11.  However, UH out-rebounded the Mustangs 43-41 and committed only 10 turnovers, its second lowest total of the season.

Elegado played all 40 minutes and finished 10-of-20 from the field. Center Molly Schlemer chipped in with 20 points and six rebounds while Taryn Garza had a game-high 12 boards.
