WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed the second round of the Amer Ari Invitational after firing a 291 Friday at the Waikoloa Kings' Course and dropped eighth places to 16
th place.
The Rainbow Warriors have a two-round score of 570 (6-under) in the 20-team tourney which features 10 nationally ranked teams, including two of the Top 10 squads. Third-ranked Oklahoma State (548) holds a two-stroke lead over Oregon (552), while 19
th-ranked Washington is four strokes back. A total of 10 teams are within nine strokes of OSU.
UH's top individual performers were freshmen
Skye Inakoshi and
Zachary Braunthal after each completed their rounds at par or better. Inakoshi had a blistering round going until going 4-over on his final four holes. The freshman was 5-under through 14 holes and eagled the par-5 18
th hole. Braunthal posted another steady round with two birdies – back-to-back on his eighth and ninth holes – two bogeys and 14 pars. Inakoshi (70-72) and Braunthal (71-71) are tied for 46
th place at 2-under for the tournament.
The other Rainbow Warriors competing are sophomore
Scotty Yamashita (68-76, t63rd), senior
Nainoa Calip (70-75, t74th), and senior
Tommy Yamashita (74-73, t91st).
Stanford's Cameron Wilson is the Round 2 lead at 12-under 132. A group of three golfers are one stroke back while sixth-ranked Cheng-Tsung Pan of Washington is among four tied for seventh at 9-under 135.
The tournament concludes on Saturday with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start at the Kings' Course.
