RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (2-7, 1-1 Big West) will travel to California to battle Big West opponent UC Riverside (0-10, 0-2 Big West) on Thursday, February 27th at the Andulka Park Tennis Center and Pepperdine (4-3, 0-0 West Coast) in a non-conference match on Saturday, March 1st at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.

The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a three match road trip, in which they went 1-2. Paulina Petriskova led UH, winning all of her singles matches in straight sets at the No. 5 slot. She first topped Cal State Fullerton's Rebekkah Ermac in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Then Petriskova defeated San Diego's Janine Koleta, 6-1, 6-2. In the final match of the trip, she knocked off San Diego State's Hailey Johnson, 6-4, 6-1.

Cindy Nguyen became the first Rainbow Wahine tennis player to earn the conference's Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor after winning her first two singles matches on the road. The last time a UH player was selected for a weekly conference honor was Barbara Pinterova in 2012 when UH was still in the Western Athletic Conference. Nguyen was victorious against the Titans' Morgan Macintosh, 7-6, 6-2 and USD's Shani Blecher, 6-3, 7-5. She is now 11-3 in singles, which leads the team in wins.

UC Riverside most recently fell in a heart breaking loss to Southern Utah, 4-3. Freshman Jasmine Almaguer is currently on a two match winning streak in singles edging out Kristine Koyoumijan of Loyola Marymount (Feb. 21), and then Alex Ivanova of Southern Utah (Feb. 23) in straight sets. She leads the Highlanders in wins at the No. 1 position with a 5-4 record in dual singles action. The two teams met in a conference match last season in Riverside, Calif. UH came out on top, 5-2.

Pepperdine is currently ranked 26th in the nation. Junior Lorraine Guillermo is currently #23 in singles and two of their doubles partners are ranked with Ale Granillo and Guillermo at #46, and Michaela Capannolo and Yuki Chiang #47. In singles play Mateo Cutura leads the team with a 6-4 record playing in the No. 2 slot. In doubles action, the duo of Cutura and Ale Granillo top the team with a 5-1 record in the No. 2 position.
