Men’s Volleyball Returns Home For Two-Match Series vs. Cal Baptist

Match Notes

HONOLULU – Fresh off a pair of sweeps at Cal State Northridge, the 11th-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team (7-4, 5-3 MPSF) will host California Baptist for a two-match Mountain Pacific Sports Federation series, Wednesday, Feb. 12 and Friday, Feb. 14 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Match time is 7:00 p.m. both nights.

The Rainbow Warriors' sweeps over CSUN last week marked the first time a UH team posted consecutive shutouts against a ranked opponent since 2006. Middle blocker Nick West made a return to the lineup after missing the last three weeks with a hand injury. The senior from Orange, Calif., made a difference in the lineup as UH amassed 20.5 total blocks in the series and he and fellow middle Taylor Averill combined for a .636 hitting percentage (3.83 kills per set) with only two errors in 33 attempts.

The Lancers (3-7, 2-6) have not played since falling in straight-sets to BYU on Feb. 3.  CBU is 0-3 in road matches this season having dropped all three matches in straight sets.
