HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team completed the third and final day of the Weinman Foundation Invitational on Sunday at the UH Tennis Complex.
In doubles, Hawaii's
Rebecca Faltusz and Martina Kostalova paired up again against CSUN's Leslie Chang and Mari Taslagyan, with the Matadors prevailing, 8-4. UH's Californian duo of
Sarah Gealer and
Cindy Nguyen once again dominated in doubles, defeating CSUN's Ki Kim and Vivian Lin, 8-3.
In singles action, Kostalova, Gealer, and Nguyen came out victorious. Kostalova cruised her way to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over UMKC's Dimitra Stavriankou, while Gealer defeated CSUN opponent, Criss Rodriguez, 6-2, 6-1. Nguyen's match against CSUN's Vivian Lin was a three set thriller. Nguyen fell in the first set 3-6, but came back firing and edged out Lin in the second set 7-5. In the deciding third set, it was all Nguyen who was hitting winners left and right to give her an easy third set win, 6-1, to capture the match.
The Rainbow Wahine will close out its fall season on Nov. 24 in Kona, Hawai`i against Stanford.
